Steve founded Big Back Pack in 2017 after holding various administrative posts in independent schools including Head of School, Chief Financial Officer, and Guidance Director. In his almost 25 years of service, he created numerous programs and curriculum for safety & security, student guidance, faculty professional growth, human resource development, and health education.
Steve is also the founder of Mandell on Safety and Security, a membership platform dedicated to creating and curating vital information for schools in an effort to develop a learning community focused on keeping people safe and campuses secure.

Dallas is a retired Police Officer from New Jersey. He has prepared numerous risk assessments, working with educational leaders, state, county, and local agencies. Dallas brings vast experience to Big Back Pack in understanding and developing guidelines and responses to emergency incidents including Active Shooter, Bomb Threat, Suspicious Devices, and Mass Casualty events. As an experienced Firefighter he has knowledge of Fire Codes and Hazardous Materials. Mr. McKinney is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
