Scott brings over 40 years of independent school experience to Big Back Pack. He began his career with an internship at Culver Academies (IN) before serving on the faculty of St. Christopher’s School (VA) for 10 years. Scott then began a successful 30-year career at Norfolk Collegiate School (VA). He served as dean, division head, assistant head, and, for the last 18 years, as head of school. During his time in Virginia, he collaborated with schools across the Commonwealth, joining 18 accreditation visits and serving as board chair of the Virginia

Association of Independent Schools. Recently, he was awarded the Sally K. Boese Distinguished Service Award for his decades of work on behalf of the association.

Scott views his work with client schools as partnerships in support of school leaders as they find the right people for the right jobs at the right time. He finds great satisfaction in providing schools with strong, mission-aligned candidates rather than a simple list of applicants. Scott also brings extensive experience in strategic planning, institutional advancement, leadership development, and operational assessments to the process, all of which help ensure the right,

comprehensive fit for schools seeking new leaders.

Scott is a graduate of Salisbury School (CT), Washington and Lee University (VA), and he earned a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. His wife and two daughters are all graduates of independent schools, so he brings a 360-degree perspective to his work. He resides in Norfolk, Virginia, and looks forward to connecting with school folks across the country.
